We have been working on Nebia for nearly 5 years and we have developed numerous iterations and prototypes. Along the way, we adopted technologies from aerospace engineering to optimize every aspect of our shower nozzles and to create our H2MICRO™ technology. Five years ago, we set out to build an amazing new shower experience and dramatically reduce water consumption. We created something so much more than just a shower. Nebia establishes an entirely new standard in water use, reducing shower water consumption by up to 70%. Beautiful and Functional Design

We developed Nebia with our users in mind. With the help of world class industrial design firm, Box Clever, we designed Nebia to be beautiful, intuitive, and functional. We chose premium materials crafted to provide an unparalleled visual and tactile finish and an iconic design fit for every home.

The Head built from a high density polymer with thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), delivers the perfect frame to nest the H2MICRO™  nozzles. With head rotation up to 45°, the head creates a whole new degree of versatility. The head was designed with all hair types in mind, pet hair included.

The Bracket is the backbone of Nebia. Made of anodized aluminum, the bracket rigidly attaches to your water supply and adheres to your wall, secured to the wall without breaking your bathroom tile. The Bracket houses an internal channel through which water flows to the head and the wand. It is elegant yet incredibly wear resistant.

The Arm slides 27 inches up and down the Bracket to optimize and customize the spray pattern to your body shape and size. In other words, Nebia was built to accommodate everyone from basketball players to children.

The Wand, ergonomically designed, has just the right heft and grip. Paired with the dock, it gives you a portable dimension of water and that extra spray of pure pleasure.

H2Micro Technology

Atomizing nozzles use pressure and geometry to control the dispersion and break up of fluid streams. These nozzles have been developed over the last century for specific technical applications, such as injecting fuel, powderizing metal, and efficient agricultural irrigation. While regular shower nozzles, called plain orifice nozzles, produce a straight stream of water with large droplets, our atomizing nozzles produce 100s of droplets dispersed into precise patterns.

Using computational fluid dynamics software (CFX by ANSYS)—the same software used to study jet engines— we modeled the fluid mechanics and thermal properties of the water as it flows from the wall outlet into and out of the nozzles of Nebia. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has allowed us to validate engineering breakthroughs and optimize the Nebia showering experience for temperature and rinse-ability.

Nebia comprises an array of specialized nozzles, each individually focused on warming and rinsing various regions of your body. Users can also choose a Strength mode with a higher velocity spray with slightly larger droplet sizes—yielding larger momenta. This gives you a more traditional sensation of pressure without the excess volume of a regular shower.

Nebia’s greater dispersion of droplets yields a larger volume of air surrounded by—and intermixed with—warm droplets of water. Therefore, the warm droplets heat a larger volume of air faster and more efficiently.

Our nozzle geometries are engineered to release droplets at different sizes and speeds. At any given cross-section of air between the nozzles and you, Nebia comprises 100s more droplets dispersed over 5 times the area compared to a regular shower. Translation: water completely surrounds and gets you wet all while using 70% less water. It’s not magic; it’s science!

Thermal Efficiency

Over 61% of the cost of your shower goes straight to heating the water you use. Yet, in a regular shower, 97% of the thermal energy is lost down the drain. The remaining 3% of the heat is transferred into the air and into you. Translation: you may feel warm but the water in your typical showerhead does very little to actually warm you.

More droplets mean greater droplet surface area. Since Nebia atomizes the water into millions of droplets, the total surface area of all of the Nebia droplets is greater than the total surface area of larger droplets emitted by a regular showerhead. Thus, Nebia can transfer 13 times more heat from the water into the environment and into you. This is by far the most efficient way to warm both you and the air surrounding you.

Multilayer Filter

In order to provide the best possible showering experience, we have designed a Multi-Layer mesh filter that is significantly better than the standard single-layer filter included with most showerheads. This means less clogging and more consistent water pressure over the lifespan of your shower.

Multi-Layer Filter “in-depth”:

Most typical household showerheads include a single-layer mesh filter upstream from the nozzles so that particles like sand, Teflon tape, and other debris don’t clog your shower. Over time, this one layer clogs with particulate because too much debris remains on that one layer, restricting water flow through the filter and decreasing water pressure. No one likes a low-pressure shower. By including multiple mesh layers of different mesh sizes, Nebia increases filtration surface area and decreases mesh size, allowing us to filter more particulate and smaller particles across multiple layers. Our Multi-Layer mesh filters out large particulate (e.g., sand) in the first layer, intermediate sized particulate in a second layer, and even smaller particulate in subsequent layers. By increasing the filter surface area through which the water flows, we can catch more particulate and minimize pressure drop. Additionally, by including multiple mesh sizes, we can distribute particulate across multiple layers to limit clogging of a single layer of mesh.
